It is believed that they belong to the Ancient city "Poitnaio" or "Potnaio", which flourished from the 5th century BC until Roman times, when in 185 BC the Athamanians asked Philip to return them with the Athenian. In the area of Poitnaio was found a relief tombstone of Echenikos, a warrior or officer who was killed in battle during the 4th century BC. Broken pottery, tiles, statuettes, coins as well as two tombs of different depth and shape were also found.
